Food Service Director Joyce Weber seems to be doing everything in her power to improve food options for students.
Not only did she set up a food advisory panel last year, but she continues to listen to student recommendations and act on them.
Last year Weber added new pizzas and smoothies. This year coffee is now being sold at breakfast, and breakfast and lunch carts have been added.
The breakfast cart is for students who don’t have time in the morning for a full breakfast. The lunch cart aims to reduce lines in the South Cafeteria.
The cafeteria is looking into allowing students to pre-order their lunches from the lunch cart via smart phone.
Now the only issue is student support.
Last year’s after-school snack bar has been shut down due to slow sales. Initial sales at the breakfast cart have been slow.
Granted, given certain nutritional restrictions by the government, school lunches are never going to be perfect.
But now that there is a decent food program that is working toward making lunches better, students should start to participate in the new opportunities that are being presented.
