Jazmin Bean uses melodies to convey traumas through music

Indie artist Jazmin Bean offers a refreshing break from mainstream pop on Traumatic Livelihood.

This new album from Bean, the stage name of English musician Jasmine Adams, has themes such as heartbreak, addiction, and mental illness. Through otherworldly melodies and emotional lyrics, the album transcends what might be expected from a young artist.

Tracks like “You Know What You’ve Done” and “Stockholm Butterfly” deliver breakup songs that are smart in their sounds and words, being easy on the ears while hitting the heart hard.

“Terrified” is a love song that is realistic in its lyrics, not just lovey-dovey. “I find that something’s changing in my tone / And all I want to do is run back home / To you, it’s you.”

Bean’s unique vocals also complete the album, having a sweet yet haunting sound, which is perfect for the subjects on the album.

The imagery and wordplay used throughout the album along with the pretty, raw sound makes for a thoroughly enjoyable album by a talented artist.
