Season 4 of The 100 disappoints fans

Areanna Bivens, Staff Writer

The 100, an American drama series, follows a group of people surviving on Earth after spending 97 years in space after the destruction of civilization on Earth. The beginning of Season One shows 100 prisoners from the international space stations being returned to Earth to decide if it’s once again habitable.

This concept appeals to audiences because people are interested in shows or movies that mark the fall of civilizations. People are intrigued by the idea of what life would be like if Earth wasn’t habitable any longer.

However, while the concept was extremely captivating at first, the death of favorite characters and plot lines caused the show to go downhill very quickly.

By season four each episode is nearly unbearable to watch, as every scene is either about war or it summarizes all the information audiences have already learned.

Unlike the first three seasons, which heavily relied on character development and therefore kept audiences interest, the concept nearly altogether vanishes by season four.

The dialogue relies more on war and violence than actually building characters and smoothly moving the story along. The 100 becomes an annoyance to have to sit through and watch every week.
