The first album from new duo, dvsn, composed of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85, gives a typical, modern sound to R&B music. The album, titled Sept. 5th, allows listeners to appreciate a more heart-wrenching sound that differentiates it from other mainstream R&B music. Songs like “Do It Well” and “With Me” are slow-paced, passionate songs that pour emotion out, while “The Line” brings seven minutes of beautiful lyrics backed by a vocal choir, making it feel extremely personal. The only downside to Sept. 5th is that the CD is very slow moving, but fans of R&B won’t mind the dragging, long songs. A few of the songs are deemed explicit, making the album not appropriate for all ages, but the mature audience dvsn targets will be pleasantly surprised. The duo’s music gives similar vibes to those of Miguel, Bryson Tiller, R. Kelly, and even Robin Thicke’s older music. The new artist seems likely to bring many more hits in the future.
