Bright Future, another solo album from Adrianne Lenker of the indie band Big Thief, shows off admirable writing, vocals, and instrumentals.

An indie musician, Lenker made her debut in 2014 with three albums in the same year. She has released four more albums since, the latest being Bright Future.

The album starts with a slow, sadder song titled “Real House.” Lenker puts raw emotion into the music, making it real and meaningful.

Some tracks on the album lean slightly more towards folk instrumentals, but keep Lenker’s incredible lyricism. These songs include “No Machine,” “Sadness As A Gift,” “Vampire Empire,” and more.

Big Thief’s song “Vampire Empire,” went viral on TikTok last year; another version of the song is featured on Bright Future.

The last track on the album, “Ruined,” was originally released as a single last year. In the song, Lenker’s amazing voice pairs with beautiful instrumentals to create a perfect ending to an already great album.

This might not be the album for listeners who like fast, upbeat pop. But for those interested in a slower, more indie genre, this album will definitely be a great listen.
