The girls basketball team lost in a close section game against Canon Mac on Monday night.

The Highlanders lost by just four points, a result that disappointed team members, since they expected a win prior to the game.

Sophomore Lexi Bernotas said the team’s loss should show the girls what they need to do to improve.

“Even though we lost, I am still confident that our team can learn from our mistakes and have a great season,” Bernotas said.

Bernotas said that teammate and fellow sophomore Anna Lucarelli played very well, adding that she is focused and motivated moving forward.

The team plays again on Thursday against Connellsville, and Bernotas said the Highlanders are ready to bounce back from the tough loss.

“The team we have is very capable of doing great things, and we have no choice but to move on and get better,” Bernotas said.
