Pro/Con: Choosing a streaming service
Not only is Spotify the world’s most popular audio streaming service, it also connects to its users. Spotify is known for the connection it builds with its users through features like their Spotify DJ, which is an AI host that assists the listener when listening to music.
Unlike Apple Music, Spotify is free to everyone and doesn’t force users to pay $10.99 a month just for the app to function correctly. Spotify is more cost efficient because it lets potential customers get a glimpse of the app before deciding whether they want to purchase a subscription.
For subscribers, Spotify is $12.99 a month, that is only two dollars more than Apple Music for a better in-app experience. Spotify premium offers a better algorithm and features like “Discover Weekly” and “Release Radar,” which introduce users to new artists.
Spotify also offers podcasts and audiobooks, whereas Apple Music listeners have to download different apps like Apple Podcasts for podcasts and Apple Books for audiobooks. Sometimes Apple Music has limited specific artist-related audio content that may appear, but it is not a primary source for audiobooks or podcasts like Spotify is.
Some Apple Music users will argue that Apple Music has better music quality than Spotify. While that might be true, it seriously is not detectable to the average user. People just want to listen to music; they don’t do deep dives into the quality of the music they are listening to.
Overall, Spotify is better than Apple Music because of the free option, features that connect to users, and the accessibility to different forms of media.
When comparing music streaming platforms, Apple Music stands out as the better choice over Spotify because of the sound quality, payments to artists, and overall user experience.
While Spotify is popular, Apple Music offers more features that make listening more enjoyable and convenient for many users.
One major advantage of Apple Music is its superior audio quality. Apple Music includes almost exact replica audio and 3D audio at no extra cost, allowing listeners to hear songs with clearer detail and a more immersive sound. For people who care about music quality, this is a significant benefit.
Another reason Apple Music is better is its connection with the Apple ecosystem. It works smoothly with devices such as iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Apple TV. Users can easily control music across devices, ask Siri to play a song, and sync their libraries without problem.
Although Spotify can be listened to for free, there are ads that go along with it, and it can be quite annoying having to listen to a long advertisement to just listen to music.
When it comes to family plans, Apple’s costs $16.99 per month for up to six people with no ads and completely everything on the app. Spotify’s plan costs $21.99 per month.
For music fans who care about the artists, Apple is clearly the better choice. Spotify pays artists just $0.003 to $0.005 per stream, while Apple Music pays artists $0.01 per stream. This allows artists to earn more money for their music and hard work.
