The fifth and final season of The Boys had its ups and downs, with pacing issues being the main problem throughout.
The first episode of the season was one of the best of the season, highlighted by A-Train completing his redemption arc by saving the boys before being killed by Homelander. The second episode wasn’t all that remarkable aside from the return of Jensen Ackles and his role of Soldier Boy, who was easily the best thing the show had going for it this season.
Episode five featured the reunion of the cast of show creator Eric Kripke’s most famous series, Supernatural. Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins were all on screen together for the first time since the end of that show.
Episode six ended with Soldier Boy giving Homelander the V1, which he took to make him immortal, at least in theory. The seventh episode had the boys working to give Kimiko Soldier Boy’s powers.
The finale has left fans divided, but it was a very strong episode overall. The episode featured the final battle between Homelander and Butcher.
