In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), and Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) embark on a journey to save Rosalina (Brie Larson) from dangerous forces.
After defeating Bowser (Jack Black), the two plumbers are thrown back into battle when Rosalina is taken from her castle. The plumbers have to travel through the galaxy, gaining friends and fighting enemies to save Rosalina.
This is one of the few quality modern animated movies. It flows very smoothly and the animation is detailed. Fans will not be let down by the animation.
Glen Powell as Fox McCloud is a great addition to the movie. He is the perfect supporting character as he helps the crew find their way through the galaxy. Powell does a great job embracing the role and fits the character perfectly.
One negative is Chris Pratt’s effort in voicing Mario. He doesn’t really seem as if he is voice acting – he sounds as if he’s just talking. Mario is known for his iconic voice, but he lacks it here.
Black does a fantastic job of turning Bowser, a character that should be evil, into a witty and amusing character. Bowser gets paired up with his son, Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie), and the two create a dynamic duo that shines throughout the movie.
Overall, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will leave both lifelong and new fans of the Super Mario franchise satisfied as they leave the theater.
