After spending five years in prison for a tragic accident, a heartbroken mother hopes to reconnect with her daughter in the bittersweet drama Reminders of Him.

The movie focuses on Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe), who is convicted after driving under the influence in a terrible car accident that kills her boyfriend, Scotty (Rudy Pankow). Kenna is too overwhelmed by grief to defend herself in court, so she gets sentenced to seven years in prison.

Kenna soon finds out she is pregnant, and it crushes her. She regrets not fighting the charges and is not permitted to meet her daughter after giving birth. 

After spending five years in jail, Kenna struggles to rebuild her life financially and emotionally, but she is mainly focused on meeting her daughter, Diem. Monroe delivers a commendable performance, portraying her character’s overwhelming sadness and emotional weight. 

While picking up the broken pieces of her life, Kenna meets her love interest, Ledger Ward (Tyriq Withers), who helps her to heal and move forward. This adds a sense of hope to the film.

Kenna is driven by the guilt of the worst night of her life. Throughout the film, she strives to give herself a second chance. The movie highlights themes of overcoming tragedy, past mistakes, and obstacles.

The film balances a tragic and heartbreaking storyline with moments of humor and love, which makes the film powerful. 

Although the film’s plot feels slightly rushed and parts of the backstory are left up for interpretation, it still manages to tell an inspiring story.
