Baldwin’s fall play won Best Student Program/Poster Design and/or Fabrication at the Prime Stage Drama Awards on Saturday.
Representing The Neverland Project in that category were juniors Mary-Katharine Stock and Josie Lang, and senior Abby Horn
Stock was the publicity team leader, Director Cassidy Cooper said.
“She coordinates with the PR team to delegate roles and tasks, develops an overall PR plan for each show, and ensures that all the goals are met for the team,” Cooper said.
Lang designed the inside of the program to include the scenes, cast list, and credits, Cooper said.
Horn created the poster for the production. Her poster was colorful to highlight a child’s imagination, she said.
“I wanted to make it so people would recognize Peter Pan, but then I added little elements that would show people that this isn’t quite the Peter Pan that you would recognize,” Horn said.
The Baldwin theater department put a special focus on promoting the fall play, Horn said. They used traditional methods, like hanging posters around Baldwin, Whitehall, and the surrounding areas. They also posted regularly on social media.
“Baldwin’s PR team is one of the hardest-working groups we have, and seeing us winning is like an extension of them because of all the hard work they put in,” Horn said.
While winning an award was not on their minds while doing their publicity work, Horn said they were ecstatic to win.
“I wanted to make the poster look the best that it can be because I cared about the play, and I cared about the PR, and I cared about making people come see the show,” Horn said. “We weren’t expecting to win it at all.”
