This is only Baldwin’s second year participating in the Prime Stage High School Drama Awards, so everyone is excited by how many nominations the play has received, senior Emma Underwood said.
Underwood said the entire production was a team effort.
“Everyone’s dedication and effort to not only the acting but also the stage crew and the tech team was beyond,” Underwood said.
She said she is especially excited to be nominated for Best Student Prop Design and/or Fabrication.
“I got nominated last year for prop design, so I was excited to be nominated again,” Underwood said.
Senior nominee Abby Horn praised the cast for their outstanding performances, highlighting not only their talent but also the strong chemistry that brought each role to life.
“I feel like the cast did a very good job of having very good chemistry overall and really diving into their characters,” Horn said.
Horn said the cast and crew put effort and energy into the production, bringing the play to life and making it special for everyone involved.
“The cast and crew did an amazing job at everything; they really put so much effort and commitment into their roles and tasks,” Horn said.
As for herself, Horn said she wanted to make sure her senior fall play was special.
“This was my senior year, so I gave it my all. I knew this was my last year doing a play in the Baldwin auditorium, so the dedication was like no other,” Horn said.
Because the play was nominated for Best Overall Production, the cast gets to perform a scene from the play at the awards ceremony, Underwood said. As a senior, she is looking forward to getting to perform The Neverland Project one last time.
Senior Kelly Campion notes the impact these nominations have on Baldwin’s theater program.
“I feel like it makes us look really good, and I feel like it’s very validating for us,” Campion said. “We can keep going and trying our best.”
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Jan. 10.
