Last Dinner Party invites listeners to a unique musical experience

Last Dinner Party shows off musical talent with their most recent album.

Some critics claim that The Last Dinner Party are “industry plants,” a term used to characterize artists with connections in the music industry before their debut – leading to their success. But with the release of their first album, Prelude to Ecstasy, the group shows off their unique musical talent.

Much of the criticism of the band comes from the fact that they had opened for both The Rolling Stones and Hozier very early into their careers – with only singles released and no album at the time. Clips of the group performing with Hozier started circulating on TikTok and their first song “Nothing Matters” gained traction.

This phenomenon is not as unbelievable as some make it out to be, since Hozier rose to fame in the same manner with the release of “Take Me To Church.” Although the most popular of the band’s songs, “Nothing Matters” is just a snippet of their unbelievable talent.

Even though it is the least streamed of all of their singles, “On Your Side” demonstrates beautiful vocals, lyrics, storytelling, and instrumental progressions, making it their best song yet. Lead vocalist Abigail Morris’s singing highlights the lyrics to produce a uniquely “Last Dinner Party” feel to it.

Outside of the singles, “Feminine Urge” especially stands out from their new music, fitting right into the album and the band’s general style. The song easily has the potential to go just as viral as “Nothing Matters” and some of the other singles, especially with its strong refrain and hard-hitting lyrics.

However, the singles that have been released within the past year outshine many of the newly released songs off of Prelude to Ecstasy. “Beautiful Boy” and “Mirror” especially fade into the background of the album even though they sound great on their own.

The band carries its distinct Renaissance-based aesthetic throughout its music videos, touring outfits, and merchandise, enhancing its brand and making itself memorable.

Overall, listening to the new album is a whole experience. The mastered aesthetics, vocals, lyrics, and accompaniment combine to make Prelude to Ecstasy a fantastic first product. The album works as proof of The Last Dinner Party’s potential to continue to grow in the music industry and reach a much higher level of traction.
