Electronic artist’s album creates unsettling atmosphere

E_Death releases new album that creates an unsettling atmosphere

E_Death has released an amazing horror-pop cultural melting pot of an electronic album with My Daughter Will Be The Mother of God

The title of the album itself is a nod to a line from Silent Hill, a pioneering horror video game franchise. The music falls into the “witch house” genre, which is recognized by its unsettling beats.

E_Death’s music shows a lot of promise, and she could possibly be a contender for the next electronic artist to make it big. She is able to create ethereal, industrial, and sometimes scary tracks with mostly just samples and beats.

The entire album is chocked full of examples of her original aesthetic and atmosphere.

She samples the witch’s crying from the popular zombie video game, Left 4 Dead, on the track “Dead Aim.” The snippet definitely sets the tone for the rest of the track, which is fast and aggressive while still holding some somberness, just like the witch in Left 4 Dead

“Brand of Sacrifice” provides another example of her amazing horror pop culture knowledge. E_Death samples the soundtrack from the original animated adaptation of the manga Berserk. She uses the beautiful composition of Susumu Hirasawa to further boost an excellent track.

E_Death is also able to build a horror movie-style atmosphere through tracks without sampling horror movies or really anything innately scary, as best shown on “Because You Were Home.” She samples a siren in the beginning to create this looming feeling of dread as the track builds.

Alongside the amazing production and sampling on My Daughter Will Be The Mother of God, E_Death also showcases impressive vocals and lyrics, especially on the tracks “If I Was An Angel,” “I Don’t Wanna Be Fine,” and “Friendship Bracelets.”

E_Death proves her versatility and talent in not just the technical aspects, but also the lyrical aspects of her music.
