Running out of TV shows and movies to stream? The Purbalite is here to help, with another installment of our What to Binge Watch feature.

American television show Arrow is a superhero series that has gained a massive following through its compelling narrative, intricate characters, and action-packed sequences.

Arrow portrays and follows the iconic DC Comics character Oliver Queen, also known as the Green Arrow, played by Stephen Amell, as he embarks on a mission to clean up the crime-ridden Starling City.

The series, developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, debuted in 2012 on The CW network and quickly reshaped the portrayal of superheroes on television.

The series starts as Queen returns home from being stranded on a remote island for five years, which transforms him both physically and mentally. But beyond its superhero facade, the show delves deep into the complexity of its characters, exploring their moral dilemmas, personal growth, and intricate relationships.

Queen’s journey from a playboy billionaire to a vigilant hero – who must face his past mistakes to grow into the role of a leader and a beacon of hope – has resonated deeply with audiences.

Arrow has intense action-packed sequences that are beautifully choreographed, and the show’s ability to interweave flashbacks allows the audience to gain insights into Oliver’s transformative journey on the island and its impact on his actions.

The series also pioneered the Arrowverse, which is a shared universe of interconnected DC superhero shows, with spin-off shows like The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. Arrowverse, with its detailed crossover episodes, unites the characters across different series and delights fans.

With its blend of thrilling action, character development, and intricate storytelling, Arrow left a mark on the superhero genre.

All eight seasons of Arrow are available to stream on Netflix.
