The Baldwin girls and boys track and field teams had a lot of strong individual performances at the tri-states meet on Saturday at West Mifflin.

“Freshman Olivia Shellman did very well. She placed eighth in the 200 meter sprint,” senior Phillip Pegher said. “She is very close to hitting the state qualifying time.”

Senior Andrew Barrett ran a personal record 4 minute, 29 second mile, which gave him the ninth-ranked spot in the WPIAL for the year to date.

Barrett also ran his fastest 4×400 split at 52 seconds. That relay team finished fifth in the 4×400, which is the sixth-fastest overall time in the WPIAL to date.

“Jonus Ruvolo did well in the 200, barely missing a medal. He also ran a good leg in the 4×100 and 4×400,” Barrett said.

Jake Kunzman also did well, placing third in long jump and sixth place in discus. The junior is ranked 13th in the state in long jump right now.
