Netflix K-Drama Hometown Cha Cha Cha provides classic story with modern message
The Netflix series Hometown Cha Cha Cha focuses on a nostalgic story set mainly outside of Seoul. Many modern K-dramas are set in Seoul, but this one gives more of an insight into a smaller town with how the people live and socially work together.
The female lead, Yoon Hye-jin, is a dentist who does not know much about the world and is stubborn. To distract herself from work, she visits Gongjin, a small town by the seaside where she ends up meeting the male lead, Hong Du-shik. Within time, they fall in love with each other, but issues from their pasts get in the way. Viewers watch them try to understand each others’ feelings.
Throughout the show, the chemistry between the main leads is endearing and genuine; their effortless facial expressions are heartwarming. There is enough time for character development so the characters have a chance to grow without rushing into it.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha reminds viewers of older K-dramas rather than the more modern ones. Many viewers today have trouble finding shows that bring out excitement and light-heartedness.
Although some people might cringe at this show, it brings out an understanding of how a lot of relationships work in the real world.
Overall, Hometown Cha Cha Cha shows how to overcome challenges while also letting go of the past and focusing more on the present.
