Movie review: Delivery Man

BY DAVID OEHLING
Staff Writer
2.5 stars

Delivery Man explains the life of David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn) and his donations at a fertility clinic over a 20-year period. His girlfriend, Emma (Cobie Smulders), is pregnant, and at the same time David learns that he is at the center of a lawsuit. When trying to make some money 20 years ago, he made hundreds of donations to a fertility clinic, resulting in more than 500 children. David, in a tough situation between his lawsuit and his girlfriend’s pregnancy, tries to form a bond with all his newly discovered children. The plot of this story is very predictable, and no surprises or real dramatic moments jump out to the average movie-goer. Although being marketed as a Vince Vaughn comedy, it is more accurately described as a family comedy as well as a drama, but there are not enough points where this movie really pulls on the heartstrings. Delivery Man falls short of what it could have been.
