Fox Sports has killed an American tradition like no other, Thursday Night Color Rush.

For those who aren’t aware, the Color Rush Thursday games started in 2015, and in 2016 it became mandatory that every team that played on Thursday night would have a uniform so bright that it could light up a small studio apartment.

But earlier this week, Bill Wagner of Fox Sports announced that Color Rush is going away. Wagner said that real fans don’t need a gimmick to watch football.

Dan Katz, host of Barstool Sports’ most successful podcast, Pardon My Take, said, “You can’t say that Color Rush is going away and then say that Color Rush is going away on Thursdays. That’s what Thursdays are for. Where do you think the name Color Rush Thursday came from? Listen up Rog(er Goodell), man to man, friend to friend, hardcore football fans love Color Rush Thursday.”

Katz sums up the people’s response to Fox Sports thieving away one of the better aspects of each week from September to December. No one actually hated Color Rush — or if they did, they didn’t really like football either.

The only thing better than football on a Thursday is some wacky gimmick that increases the game’s watch value tenfold. Forget that the matchups weren’t the best and just remember the great moments Color Rush gave fans.

Thursday Night Color Rush is responsible for the realization that the Rams were actually good while being equally bad when they played San Francisco early in the year.

Thursday Night Color Rush is responsible for one of the most alpha ways to walk off a game defensively, when J.J. Watt slammed the Bengals center at the end of a low-scoring game that also saw the emergence of DeShaun Watson as a starting quarterback.

Thursday Night Color Rush is responsible for uniting a country, through the power of colorful uniforms, subpar matchups, and early weekend football with liberty and justice for all.

Rest in peace, Thursday Night Color Rush (2015-2018).
