By donning costumes on Oct. 31 and collecting money from their students, Baldwin teachers this year raised about $400 for the KDKA Turkey Fund.
This Halloween tradition has been at Baldwin for 10 years.
English teacher Dan Harold raised more than $101, the most by any teacher this year. Steve Sinning, another English teacher, raised more than $85 dollars. He had raised the most the previous two years. Michelle Jenkins, also an English teacher, raised the third-highest amount, more than $65.
The money goes directly to the KDKA Turkey Fund, which works with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need.
“For every $15 we raise, a family a five or six gets a meal,” said Brigetta Hannah, librarian and National Honor Society sponsor. That even includes pie.
