The second half of the SuperMotocross World Championship will kick off in Pala, Calif., on May 30 with the start of the Pro Motocross leg. To close out the Supercross season, here are the best moments from the 2026 Supercross season, in reverse order.
5. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team status
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team announced mid-season that this will be their last year in operation. After this season, they will shift toward supporting teams and not running their own. This will leave Daxton Bennick, Ryder DiFrancesco, Casey Cochran, R.J. Hampshire, and Malcolm Stewart without a team going into next season.
This will cause a shakeup throughout the remainder of the 2026 season, with riders planning to move to new teams. Looking into 2027, it will likely be a crazy off-season with a lot of riders changing teams.
4. Jorge Prado will be a threat
Jorge Prado had a bad rap around his name going into the 2026 Supercross season. In 2025, Prado left KTM in Europe, who he had been racing for since 2011, to race for the Monster Energy Kawasaki team in the U.S. That year went as badly as it could for Prado, leaving a mark on his name and resume that he had hoped to forget.
Now, he has finished this Supercross season with two podiums and multiple heat race wins. He showed a lot of progression, and he looks comfortable on his bike. Going into the Pro Motocross season, Prado is likely to win a few motos and possibly an overall win.
3. Eli Tomac comes up short and Hunter Lawrence goes long – literally
At the halfway point of the Supercross season, Eli Tomac was looking like the title favorite. But then he had a few races where he was not looking like himself. He eventually gave up the points lead to Hunter Lawrence, who scored his first win this season.
Tomac came up short in the whoops in Cleveland, and he went on to sit out for the night, removing him from the points battle. Then he came back and raced in Salt Lake City for the season finale, and he was the favorite to win the race. At the start of the race, he came up short in a rhythm section, removing him from the racing for the night, again.
This will be a season of what-if’s for Tomac. As he fell to his demise, Lawrence heated up and went on to take the points lead. He eventually lost it to title winner, Ken Roczen, and it was a winner-take-all situation at the final race. Lawrence ended up jumping a rhythm section long and wrecking, losing his hopes of winning the title.
Tomac fell short of expectations. Lawrence went farther than most expected.
2. Haiden Deegan dominates 250 class
Haiden Deegan ended his 250 career at the season finale, as he is moving up to the 450 class next week for Pro Motocross. Since his professional debut in 2023, he has never finished worse than fifth in the championships.
He has won six of 10 championships he has been involved with. This season, he won seven races, which is his career best in a 250 Supercross. Looking ahead, he will be a key contender in the 450 motocross championship this summer.
1. Ken Roczen finally wins the title
Ken Roczen has finally won a 450 Supercross title, after 12 years of trying.
After a brutal wreck in 2017 where he almost lost his arm, and then destroying his other arm on his comeback in 2018, no one would have believed that Roczen could rally a Supercross title. He was good for one win a season, but now he is a champion with five wins in one season.
This is one of the best “feel good” stories in all of sports, and Roczen deserves this win. After winning two Motocross titles, this is the last title he wanted to win. This is the way that fans of the sport wanted to see the 2026 season end.
