Baldwin baseball lost 10-0 to Canon Mac on Tuesday, marking their fifth loss in a row. 

The Highlanders struggled to get their offense going, senior Luke Thompson said. 

“We are a defense-minded team. We just need to catch up on our offense,” Thompson said. 

The Highlanders need to get on time with opposing teachers, he said.

“We need to catch up on velocity. We are really late on everything, and we have to catch up,” Thompson said. 

Canon-Mac is a strong team, and Baldwin starting pitcher junior Cooper Sturges fought hard against them, Thompson said.

“He held his head high and competed hard against Canon Mac,” Thompson said.

The team’s section record is 7-3 and its overall record is 11-7. These losses are hurting team morale, junior Tyler Geary said.

“We are on a downward spiral that needs to be fixed,” Geary said. 

The team is planning on going into the playoffs with a new attitude. 

“It’s a whole different season out there,” Thompson said. “Everything’s starting back over. It’s a whole new game.”

Their next game will be a home game at 4 p.m. Thursday against Trinity, with playoffs starting next week.
