The baseball team won their eighth game in a row on Tuesday, defeating Connellsville 12-4.
The Highlanders are tied for first in the section. They have a 7-1 section record and an 11-2 overall record.
The game was close for the first six innings, but in the seventh inning, Baldwin pulled ahead by scoring eight runs, senior Luke Thompson said.
Junior Tyler Geary said that Baldwin shone in the second half of the game.
“We really came alive, and we put up a good game,” Geary said.
Both Thompson and Geary said sophomore Hudson McKain played a good game.
“Hudson McKain had a two-run triple,” Thompson said.
Also coming up with key hits for Baldwin were juniors Matt Musial and Aiden Robinson.
Though the Highlanders won, there were still challenges while playing.
“Adjusting to a soft leftie and not fixing that earlier in the game was hard,” Geary said.
Additionally, Thompson complimented Connellsville’s performance in the first half of the game.
“They pitched well for the first few innings of the game,” Thompson said. “They held us to two runs.”
The next game will be on Thursday away against Peters Township.
