The boys lacrosse team lost to Freeport 12-5 on Tuesday. The game was a continuation of a game that had been postponed earlier, picking up in the fourth quarter with Freeport leading 8-5.
Freeport’s transition was very good, according to freshman Jack Hampton.
“They could get the ball out, get it to their midfielders, and their passing and catching were great,” Hampton said.
The Highlanders struggled with getting past Freeport’s defense and advancing the ball, Hampton said.
Despite the rough loss, junior Kaden Kicinski and senior Evan Szpara played well, Hampton said. They locked down their men and did everything they could to keep the Highlanders moving, he said.
Looking forward, the team feels that they have one big aspect of their game to work on.
“Passing and catching is a big thing for us. If we can get that down, we’ll be good and be doing way better,” Hampton said.
The squad’s next matchup is a tough one against Peters Township.
“Peters is a good team, and we’re going to do what we can to stop their offense and transition the ball over and hopefully get some goals,” Hampton said.
Baldwin plays Peters Township away at 6 p.m. Thursday.
