The girls lacrosse team lost to Shaler 18-3 on Friday.
“Shaler had good confidence and their draw control was really good throughout the game,” senior Taylor Hucic said.
Senior Olivia O’Malley pointed out Shaler’s aggressiveness and defense throughout the game
“They were really aggressive, and when we got the ball they would transition quickly, doubling or tripling whoever had the ball,” O’Malley said. “They were also using a zone defense, which we don’t see a lot,”
Moving forward, the team is going to focus on tactics to better their offense.
This would mean “being able to handle pressure, keep running and moving our feet, so the other team isn’t able to easily mark us,” O’Malley said.
During the game, Hucic believed the Highlanders had a good defense, but could’ve improved on transitioning up the field.
“I think we started off well, but being able to transition up and down the field would help us turn into the offensive side,” Hucic said.
Despite the loss, the team’s defense had some highlights.
“Our defense has been good this year. The only upper hand Shaler had was their fast breaks,” O’Malley said.
The three goals scored by Baldwin came from Hucic, O’Malley, and sophomore Namrata Rai.
Hucic shouted out Rai for her impressive draws playing in midfield.
“Namrata doesn’t normally play midfield often, so I found her confidence and gameplay very impressive,” Hucic said.
The girls play again at 6 p.m. today against Plum at home.
