The girls lacrosse team defeated West Allegheny 19-4 on Wednesday.
Senior Olivia O’Malley believes the Highlanders had a big advantage from the beginning of the game.
“We were winning the draws, and that really gave us the upper hand,” O’Malley said. “We got to score the first goal.”
O’Malley credited senior Taylor Hucic and sophomore Keely Duzyk for standing out for Baldwin.
“Taylor was really good at communicating on offense and the plays to run,” O’Malley said. “Keely’s confidence after her first goal was really present throughout the game.”
O’Malley also recognized the team’s effort as a whole.
“The team did really well. Everybody put a lot of aggression into the ground balls, and the pressure from everyone was really high,” O’Malley said.
She also complimented the effort from West Allegheny.
“They were able to put pressure on us at some points and did a good job at not just making it easy for us,” O’Malley said.
The team’s record is now 3-5 overall. Their next game is against Shaler at home at 7 p.m. today.
