The boys lacrosse team defeated Plum 5-3 on Wednesday.
Junior Owen McLuckie had four of the team’s five goals and was able to get good shots off past the defenders, freshman Jackson Voelker said. Senior Alex Meyers played well in goal, he said.
“He had a lot of saves last night,” Voelker said.
Baldwin played well on offense and defense, but Plum’s attack had some good moments, Voelker said.
“They had a couple of good players on offense, and our defense had to adapt,” Voelker said.
Senior Josh Staudt said the Highlanders’ offense was key.
“The defense was helping out with us, but I feel like the offense held the game down by scoring more goals, passing more, and setting more picks,” Staudt said.
Even though this victory could be a turning point for the squad, the road does not get any easier, Staudt said.
“We have this mindset that we can’t lose, and we know it’s going to be a dogfight all game. We have to make sure we’re prepared for that,” Staudt said.
The team plays Seton-La Salle at 7:30 p.m. Monday at home on Alumni Night.
