Through the first 16 Supercross races of Cole Davies’ career, he is producing some of the best statistics the sport has seen in years.
He has won six of the 16 races, for about a 38% rate. His average finish is 3.3. He has been on the podium 10 times in those races, for a 63% rate. His worst career finish is an eighth place, which took place in his debut race in January 2025.
He has been in the top five for 14 of his races, which calculates to an 88% rate. The only other time he was out of the top five was Arlington in 2025, where he finished seventh.
The Arlington race was a triple crown, which means that racers compete in three shorter races that are scored based on finish position. Davies finished 4-17-1 in Arlington, and there is an explanation for his poor showing in the second of the three races. He was taken out on the start so he was 22nd, which is last place, on the first lap. He was able to dig his way up to an 11th place spot, but after another mistake he dropped back to 17th, where he finished.
Beyond Arlington, though, his stats are better than the likes of Haiden Deegan and Jett Lawrence. Deegan is undeniably the best 250 racer in the sport right now, and Lawrence is the best 450 racer when healthy.
Deegan will be moving up to the 450 class this summer, so this will give Davies the chance to be the next big name in the 250 class.
His statistics through 16 races are similar to those of Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, and Ryan Villopoto. Carmichael is referred to as the “GOAT” of the sport, Stewart has been nicknamed “The Fastest Man on the Planet,” and Villopoto had one of the most dominant 250 careers in Supercross history.
Carmichael had an average finish of 3.8 with 11 wins through his first 16 races and was on the podium 12 total times. Stewart had 10 wins with an average finish of 3.3 and 13 podiums. Villopoto had eight wins with an average finish of 3.0 and 11 podiums.
Davies has comparable data to some of the greatest to ever race Supercross. With a 19-point lead and three races left in the season, can Davies win his first professional title and continue to produce extraordinary results?
Davies will race this weekend in Cleveland at Huntington Bank Field at 3 p.m. A win this weekend would be his fifth of the year.
