The girls lacrosse team defeated Hempfield in overtime on Friday, 8-7.
Junior Ava Frantz said the Highlanders worked together to move the ball.
“We did really well with team coordination and working together to get up the field with the ball,” Frantz said.
Frantz credited senior Olivia O’Malley as being a major contributor on the team.
“She scored most of our goals, and she got the game-winning goal in overtime,” Frantz said.
O’Malley felt the pressure to help the team get the victory.
“I wanted it for me and I wanted it for my team,” O’Malley said. “We never gave up and we didn’t get in our heads. We just kept pushing.”
Hempfield had strong checks, creating competition between the teams, Frantz said.
Although Baldwin was strong on defense, they could work on communication and stick work.
Baldwin’s record is now 2-4. The Highlanders will play at home at 6:30 p.m. today against Norwin.
