The softball team defeated Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday, 7-4, maintaining their perfect section record.
Junior Melina DeFelice said the Highlanders had well timed hits and positive energy.
“We had a lot of good timely hits and we kept up the energy in the dugout,” DeFelice said.
Freshman Avery Lieu said senior Reese Temme played a significant part in their victory by hitting a three-run home run.
“We were down 3-0,” Lieu said. “She tied it up, and the vibes were just up from there.”
Lieu said the game had an energetic mood and that the team maintained their energy while playing.
“I feel like our bats were very alive, and overall we were very hype in the dugout,” Lieu said.
Thomas Jefferson, meanwhile, had a good defense and tough pitcher.
“They had a pretty good defense for the most part, then their pitcher made us work to win the game,” DeFelice said.
TJ’s attitude had also been positive during the game.
“They did a very good job having confidence and keeping their heads up, even when they were down,” Lieu said.
DeFelice said the Highlanders are working to reduce strikeouts.
The win pushed the team’s record to 5-0 in section. The next game is an away game today against Trinity.
