Baldwin boys volleyball defeated Canon-McMillan on Tuesday night, 3-2.
Baldwin played a good game to keep their place as first in the section. Junior Martino Suta said Baldwin executed well and showcased their strengths.
“We passed well and did a good job covering tips on defense,” he said.
Their composure is another strength, he said.
“We stayed calm in tight situations,” Suta said. “That has been one of our best aspects as a team.”
Senior Brayden Gremba agreed with Suta, saying that they served very well and that their ability to stay composed was what won them the game.
Suta said senior Dylan Leonhardt played well for the Highlanders.
“His serving put us ahead and helped us win the first set,” Suta said.
Despite their early success, Suta always sees room to improve.
“We could be better at communicating as a team and playing at a steady pace,” he said.
Gremba added some more areas the team needs to improve.
“We were not putting balls away like we should and were frustrated a little bit early on in the match,” Gremba said.
The team is looking good this year, and that excites Suta. He feels like they have a solid future ahead of them.
“We are at the top of our section, so I think that we could definitely win the section. We have a great team,” he said.
Baldwin plays next at Bethel Park on Thursday.
