The baseball team defeated McKeesport on Tuesday, 12-0.
Senior Aiden Robinson, who hit a home run, credited the team’s hard work in improving their skills.
“The team has been working on swinging at better pitches instead of swinging at balls that are high or balls in the dirt,” Robinson said.
Sophomore Hudson McKain, who had eight strikeouts and pitched five scoreless innings, stood out to Robinson. Overall, McKain felt that the game went very well.
“Everybody on the team had a good at-bat and made the other team’s pitcher have to throw more pitches,” McKain said.
The baseball team has been working hard on starting fast and getting an early lead in games, McKain said.
“We scored four runs in the first inning, which really helped the team be engaged throughout the game and helped with our confidence,” McKain said.
Robinson reflected on what the team could practice to better their game for the rest of the season.
“The team could work on being more vocal during the game,” Robinson said. “It’s always nice to hear your teammates behind you.”
The team hopes to continue its success and work hard toward WPIALs.
“I think this team is capable of great things this year. I personally think we could win our section and hopefully a WPIAL championship,” McKain said.
