The Baldwin boys tennis team lost 3-2 to Woodland Hills on Monday.
Woodland Hills was able to win by serving well and playing fast as a team to overcome the Highlanders, senior Hayden Swanson said. Their tempo was able to take over the games.
Swanson plays third singles for the team and lost his match 6-2 and 6-3.
“It was a hard match against a tough opponent,” Swanson said. “The team is off to a rough start, but we will come back stronger next time.”
The team is currently sitting at a 0-5 record with a section record of 0-4.
“We could work on our mental game on the road and be more confident throughout the matches,” Swanson said.
Senior Carter Smeal and Nikita Petruk both won their matches for Baldwin.
Although the team will not play again until next week, Petruk and Smeal will be participating in section singles today at Fox Chapel.
The team’s next game will be on Monday against Central Catholic at home.
