The baseball defeated Thomas Jefferson 7-2 on Monday to improve the Highlanders’ record to 3-1.
Sophomore Hudson McKain started the game off with a home run to give Baldwin a lead of 1-0.
Junior Aiden Robinson said the homer was a big momentum boost.
“Hudson’s home run in the first, it really set the tone in energy,” Robison said. “It just progressively got better through the game.”
Junior Matt Musial had two catches that really stood out.
“Matt had probably the best catch I’ve ever seen, catching it and then rolling over the fence. It was huge because there were bases loaded and two outs, and he came up with the catch,” McKain said.
Robison agreed with McKain about Musial’s catch.
“Matt made some great plays in the outfield, robbed a home run, made diving catches, and did pretty well at the plate,” Robinson said.
Robinson also highlighted freshman pitcher Gavin Stock’s outing.
“Gavin went about five and a third innings under 90 pitches, and had eight strikeouts,” Robinson said.
McKain said TJ struggled with hitting and had a couple of errors in the field.
“The game would’ve been a lot closer if Matt didn’t make that catch, but other than that, they never had momentum in the game and struggled hitting,” McKain said.
The Highlanders will play TJ again today, away at 4:30 p.m.
