The Baldwin baseball team lost 9-2 on Tuesday against Butler.
Senior Luke Thompson said Butler’s pitcher performed very well during the game.
“Their first pitcher threw a perfect game through five innings,” Thompson said.
Junior Cooper Sturges credited Butler’s hitting.
“In just the third inning, they managed to score five runs,” Sturges said.
Sturges said the Highlanders can improve on their hitting and perform better in the outfield.
Thompson, meanwhile, said the team needs to have a better mentality when going into a game.
“We just need to stay positive even if the other team has a lead on us,” Thompson said. “That’s something we struggle with, but it would help us during games.”
Despite the loss, the Highlanders kept pushing, Thompson said. Senior Ethan Helbling stood out for his performance up at bat, he said.
“He got us our first hit of the game and it went up through the middle,” Thompson said.
Senior Nico Macurak scored on a wild pitch. Junior Matt Musial had an RBI for Baldwin.
The boys next game will be at home against Thomas Jefferson at 4:30. Tuesday.
