The baseball team defeated West Mifflin 5-4 Thursday in a tight game.
Junior Aiden Robinson said senior Ethan Helbling stood out as an offensive contributor with three doubles.
The team kept energy high and made key plays in the outfield throughout the game, Robinson said. This helped the team stay in the game and secure the win after being behind in the first couple of innings. To Robinson, the team “being there for each other” was what kept their game strong.
Robinson said Baldwin’s pitchers did well and threw strikes. Sophomore Hudson McKain and freshman Gavin Stock pitched for the team.
“We didn’t walk very many people,” McKain said. “In the first game we walked a lot of guys, but we came back in the second game and pitched a lot better.”
McKain credited West Mifflin with getting off to a fast start.
“They jumped on us early and they got out to their lead, but we fought back,” he said.
Robinson thinks this win will give the team momentum for the rest of the season.
“It gives us the urge to want to win more throughout the season,” Robinson said.
Baldwin’s next game is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Butler.
