The boys tennis team lost to Fox Chapel 5-0 on Friday in the first game of their season.
Fox Chapel is regularly a strong opponent. Senior Hayden Swanson said they outplayed the Highlanders.
“We struggled with the pace of play,” Swanson said. “They served better, they were faster – basically everything.”
Baldwin is working to improve on footwork and consistency for future matches, he said.
Senior Nikita Petruk did a good job with serves and scored a couple points. He was off to a steady start before he wore down a little, Swanson said.
“He was doing really well, and then he just got tired in the third set.” Swanson said
The boys team was supposed to play Shaler today, but the game was canceled. They will play Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday and then West Mifflin on Friday.
