This past weekend, Jason Anderson sat out of the Daytona Supercross race, and ongoing medical issues were cited as the reason. After that announcement, he deactivated all of his social media accounts.

On Sunday, it was reported he had been arrested for domestic violence back in December. Since this incident, the state of Florida has either declined to file charges against Anderson, or the charges have been dropped. 

All of this has led to an announcement that Anderson will be stepping away from racing indefinitely. 

“Pipes Motorsports Group announces that rider Jason Anderson will be stepping away from Supercross competition for an indefinite period to address personal, family, and ongoing medical matters. This decision was made jointly by Jason and his management team in coordination with the organization,” his racing team said in a statement.

Anderson released his own statement as well.

“I take full responsibility for my actions, and I’m truly sorry for the hurt they’ve caused my wife and family,” Anderson said in his own statement. “We are asking for privacy right now, as my focus needs to be on my family. I’m stepping away indefinitely to give them my full attention and to work on being the husband and father they deserve.”

Anderson was the 2018 450 Supercross champion and the 2014 250 Supercross West champion. Also, he was the 2022 450 Supercross Championship runner-up.

With Anderson’s departure from the team, it leaves Ken Roczen and Colt Nichols as the only racers on the team.

Roczen has already won a race this year, in Glendale. Nichols was the 2021 250 East Supercross champion and the 2023 450 Supercross Rookie of the Year. His best finish this season so far has been 11th place.

It remains unclear when or if Anderson will return to professional competition. For now, Pipes Motorsports Group will move forward with their two-rider lineup, as the Supercross season moves forward to Indianapolis this weekend for a night of Triple-Crown racing.
