The gymnastics team placed fourth overall for states at Huntington Area High School over the weekend, with five Highlanders receiving individual medals in the gold division.
Senior Ella Scurry placed three times, finishing ninth on vault, third on bars, and sixth in the all-around.
Senior Jewell Stevens credited Scurry for her hard work and dedication through multiple events.
“Ella did a really good job keeping her balance, strength, and technical precision during the meet,” Stevens said.
Senior Vivien Skalos placed tenth on vault, with on bars, and ninth in the all-around.
“Vivien did a great job at not only keeping a positive attitude, but she also was very dedicated to placing well,” Scurry said. “It was motivating to see her accomplish her goal of placing.”
Stevens placed during the meet finishing seventh on bars, junior Charlotte Fauls placed seventh on vault, and sophomore Paige Giglione placed twelfth on bars.
Stevens said the team kept their morale strong throughout playoffs.
“Everyone had positive attitudes and stayed strong as a team,” Stevens said.
All the team members backed each other during the competition, Scurry said.
“Everybody was there to support each other and was excited for their teammates no matter what,” Scurry said.
