The boys and girls indoor track teams competed at the annual TSTCA Championship meet this weekend at Edinboro.
The boys and girls relay teams had a good meet, especially the boys’ 4×800 relay team, sophomore Alana Ipolito said. The team consists of seniors Jackson Presto, McKinley Beech, Alex Castaneda, and junior Jack Reichl.
“They got medals for placing seventh and ran well,” Ipolito said.
Junior Becca Gruntz has been a standout during the indoor season and continued her success at the championships, junior Logan Breisinger said.
“Becca Gruntz did very well. She placed fourth in triple jump,” Breisinger said.
Another standout at the meet was Beech, Ipolito said.
“McKinley Beech did exceptionally well in the boys’ 400. He was definitely a standout,” Ipolito said.
There were a large number of athletes competing, making the wait time in between events longer than usual.
“The long wait times and cold weather were rough and definitely affected people’s performances,” Breisinger said.
Next up for track athletes is the beginning of outdoor track and field practice next week.
