The boys and girls indoor track teams competed this weekend in Edinboro.
Junior Rebecca Gruntz believes everyone performed well in their events, including her placing first in the long jump and second in the triple jump.
Gruntz recognized the freshmen, saying that they were competitive in their events.
“Katelyn Weiss, Pressley Kustron, and Erin Stanko all stood out for the 4×200; they all did very well,” Grunz said.
Sophomore Cheyanne Trout also said that the freshmen did very well for just starting indoor track this year.
“For the freshman, it’s good for them to get experience during the indoor season to prepare them for the spring season,” Trout said
Brooke Cichon, a thrower who competed in shot put at the meet on Saturday, set a personal record for herself.
“I think I threw well. I could have done better if I used my leg strength more, but it was good,” Cichon said.
Trout runs the 1600 and the distance medley relay. This past Saturday, she didn’t PR, so she feels that the meet didn’t really stand out for her individually.
“I think that overall the team is doing well and that everyone needs to focus or try to improve whatever their individual weaknesses are,” Trout said. “This would make for stronger races, as much of the track is individual.”
For the next meet, Grunz thinks the improvements are needed, in practice and attitudes.
“If we go into the meet with better attitudes, we will compete better and have better outcomes,” Grunz said.
