Eli Tomac bounced back this past weekend in Seattle to win his third race of the year, after a 12th place finish the week before.
Two weeks ago, Tomac had a nasty wreck off of the start, leaving him in last place. This was a bounce-back race for him. He made a comeback in his points deficit, leaving Tomac only a point behind Hunter Lawrence for the lead.
Tomac, who had a good start, was able to end up finishing with a 10-second lead over Cooper Webb. Meanwhile, Webb has been able to drag his way back into the points battle. He is only 11 points behind the leaders, compared to over 20 from a few weeks before.
Justin Cooper rounded out the podium in the 450 class with another good ride.
Ken Roczen and Lawrence were battling until the near end of the race, when Lawrence collided with Roczen in the sand turn, sending both into the ground.
Lawrence went on to publicly apologize to Roczen, deeming the wreck a racing incident and not intentional in the slightest way.
The 250 West class is shifting into a break now, as the 250 East class starts. Haiden Deegan won the last race before break. Levi Kitchen battled with Deegan, at his hometown race, but he fell short. Cameron McAdoo rounded out the podium in the 250 West class.
It was a good weekend for title sponsor, Monster Energy, as well. Tomac was the only athlete on the podium this weekend who is not sponsored by them. He is a Red Bull athlete.
In the 250 East class, multiple racers have the opportunity to win the title. Monster Energy Star Racing’s Pierce Brown was injured in the first race of the 2025 season, leaving him out for all of last year. However, he has shown immense speed and should be considered a “pre-season” favorite.
Bainbridge, Pa., native Seth Hammaker is going to be a title fighter as well. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki athlete had a phenomenal year last year and he could finally bring home his first professional title.
Cole Davies, a Monster Energy Star Racing athlete, could win the title in his sophomore season. He showed signs of real talent in his rookie year and he could battle for wins and a title this year.
Jo Shimoda announced that he will be able to race in 250 East, after an off-season back injury. The 2025 250SMX champion is one of the best in the class, but it is hard to say how he will stack up, with a short amount of time on his bike.
A new podium contender this year could be Switzerland’s Valentin Guillod. The Gizmo Mods Yamaha racer had a breakout season in Motocross last year, and it will be exciting to see how he stacks up in Supercross.
Western Pennsylvania’s own Gavin Towers will be racing 250 East for Phoenix Racing Honda. If fans are looking to cheer someone on this weekend, cheer on the Venetia native.
Racing takes place in Arlington, Tex., this weekend. On Peacock, viewers can see the racing during the day. Qualifying starts at 12:30 p.m. Eastern and the racing action commences at 7 p.m. The seventh event of the year, including the first 250 East race, is sure to become another excitement-filled night.
