The boys and girls swim teams lost to Plum on Wednesday.
Freshman Spencer Popp said Plum’s swimmers performed well.
“They did really well in every event, but their best one was the 100 butterfly,” Popp said.
Senior Katie Gruendler said that Popp, participating in a new event, stood out for Baldwin.
“Spencer Popp did well in his 500 yards. It was his first time swimming it, and he was able to do pretty well,” Gruendler.
Popp believes he could have done better in his event, but is proud of himself for competing in the new event.
Although the team lost, Baldwin still had some success.
“I think our relay teams looked good. They were a little different lineups then we normally see, but everyone still did really well,” Gruendler said.
As WPIALs approach, the team is still working.
“The boys 200 free relay and Tarik (Usanovic) qualified so far, so they just need to work on their relay starts and their sprints,“ Gruendler said.
This was the last meet of the season. WPIAL qualifiers will compete on Feb. 26 and 27.
