The boys and girls indoor track teams competed over the weekend at Youngstown State on Saturday.
Senior Anna Plunkett thought all the teams performed well.
“They did very well because Youngstown has a lot of very random teams,” Plunkett said. “It’s not like when you go to a normal outdoor meet.”
Senior Vince Broccoli stood out in his events, especially shot put, Plunkett said.
“Vinny did do really well. He had really good throws and honestly he just got unlucky with being the last one to not make it to finals,” Plunkett said.
The teams are seeing improvement this year despite setbacks from the weather.
“I think the coaching staff is really good this year,” Plunkett said. “We have a really good balance.”
Sophomore Nasir Anderson cited senior Zach Lieu’s performance in the 400-meter dash.
“It was his first meet and he had the best time,” Anderson said.
Anderson reflected on how the team has grown.
“Hearing the times from the last indoor season versus this indoor season, we’ve improved,” Anderson said.
The team’s next meet is on Saturday at Edinboro.
