450 Class Veteran Ken Roczen was able to bring home his first win of the 2026 season at State Farm Stadium, in Glendale, Ariz., over the weekend.
Roczen was able to get by Hunter Lawrence early on and was able to run away with his first win of the season. Roczen went on to dedicate his win to Larry Brooks, his team manager. Brooks was diagnosed with Stage 2 colon cancer last week. He was not able to attend the race, but he stayed involved with the team during the weekend.
Lawrence was able to hold his own and finish second, marking his fourth second-place finish in a row. He is yet to win a 450 Supercross, and it is safe to say that he will be a winner shortly. Coming in third was Cooper Webb, the defending champion. He is finally rebounding after a rough start to the season.
Eli Tomac, the points leader coming in, had a first-turn crash in the main event, leaving fans worried whether the multi-time champion was injured. He was able to get up and log laps, charging back to a 12th-place finish.
However, Tomac lost the points lead to Lawrence because of his consistent second place finishes.
After five races, it feels as if there is a list of riders who could win the title: Tomac, Roczen, Lawrence, Webb, and Chase Sexton.
Sexton finished seventh in Glendale, but it is hard to count the 2023 Champion out. Although he has inconsistent races, he is arguably the fastest racer on the track every weekend.
In the 250 class, Haiden Deegan is running away with the 250 West title. The West Coast racers will race this weekend, and then they will take a break for a few weeks, as the East Coast championship starts.
Deegan won again, with Levi Kitchen in second place. Kitchen was 19th on the first lap, after a first turn crash, but he was able to run some of the fastest laps of the race to come back. However, he was no match for Deegan, who was able to pull away early.
Third place had Cameron McAdoo back on the podium, who rode another good race.
At this point, it will be Deegan’s championship to lose. Injury will be the only thing that can give his fellow racers hope to win the title. He has 27 points, which is more than one full race win’s worth of points, against second place.
This weekend racing goes north to Seattle at Lumin Field on Saturday night. The forecast is calling for a lot of rain, so the first mud race of the year can change the mix of front runners. On Peacock, fans can watch the racing throughout the day. Qualifying starts at 12:30 p.m. Eastern and the racing starts at 7 p.m. The sixth race of the year is sure to bring another event filled night.
