The gymnastics team placed fourth overall at WPIALs on Saturday, with all six athletes qualifying for states.

Senior Lily Rock credited senior Ella Scurry on her beam routine and junior Charlotte Fauls performance on her floor routines. 

Fauls placed fifth on vault and Scurry placed seventh on beam. Both competed in the gold division. 

“They have both worked so hard this season, and their routines are definitely showing it,” Rock said. 

Rock also said the Highlanders overall were strong on the floor and were scoring very high. She is looking forward to states, and excited to see what the team will do well. 

The one thing that the team could work on is their vault performance, she said. 

“I think on the vault we had issues sticking it, but I think we will be able to fix that for states,” Rock said. 

Fauls is also eager for states to come and thinks the team will compete.

“I am looking forward to staying in a hotel with my team and competing for two days in a row,” Fauls said.

The team will compete at the State Championship on Feb. 20 and 21.
