The unified bocce team lost its senior night match against Mt. Lebanon 3-2 on Tuesday.
“Both Baldwin teams started with a win, but the other team was playing very well,” junior Carter Banderinko said.
With a 2-0 lead over the Blue Devils, Baldwin started to play loose, and Mt. Lebanon was able to come back and force an overtime “golden frame.” The Blue Devils ended up getting it done in the golden frame, leaving Baldwin disappointed.
“They played strategically, hitting our balls out of the way. So we went to the golden frame and lost,” Banderinko said.
The Blue Devils kept putting Baldwin into uncomfortable game situations.
“We got down very quickly and couldn’t find our way back,” junior Jesse Moder said.
Moder said Baldwin still put up a good fight and never gave up.
“They were just in control for most of the match,” Moder said.
For senior night, each senior was honored on the big screen in the gym with their own pictures.
“It’s fun to be able to compete with the seniors. I’m sad they will have to go,” Banderinko said.
The next match is at 3 p.m. today at Steel Valley.
