The Baldwin girls basketball team lost to Trinity on Friday, 50-44.

Senior Laci Bernotas thought Trinity played well on offense.

“Trinity moved the ball really well and created good scoring opportunities,” Bernotas said.

Senior Bella Niles said Trinity was able to capitalize on Baldwin’s mistakes.

“Trinity was able to get through our flaws with our defense, leading to many rebounds,” Niles said.

Bernotas thought Baldwin did well on defense, however.

“We pressured the ball, making it harder for Trinity to run their offense,” she said.

Niles said the Highlanders did well with sticking together and keeping positive energy throughout the game.

“We did well passing and keeping the ball, and we made sure we had each other’s backs and picked each other up the whole game,” Niles said

Bernotas believed Niles stood out for the Highlanders.

“Bella played really hard, showing great effort and determination even though we came out with a loss,” Bernotas said.

Other standouts on the team included seniors Jules Ott, who scored 13 points for the Highlanders, and Bernotas, who scored 10 points.

The Highlanders are 14-3 overall, and 6-2 in WPIAL Class 5A Section 4 play. The Highlanders are in second place, behind TJ, who are 16-2 and 9-0 in section play.

The team’s next game is against Uniontown at home at 6 p.m. Friday.
