Baldwin girls basketball pushed their winning streak to 10 games by defeating Uniontown 65-39 on Monday night.
Freshman Alia Bernotas thought the team did a good job maintaining energy throughout the game.
“We had very good chemistry. We kept the energy up, and we just played how we know how to play,” Bernotas said.
Uniontown challenged Baldwin with their defense.
“Uniontown was very aggressive. They had good defense and rebounded very well. They had a very good girl, who is D1,” Bernotas said.
Due to the team’s successful season so far, Baldwin is a large target for other teams.
“It is stressful because a lot of teams are probably after us, trying to beat us because we weren’t ever this good in the past couple of years,” Bernotas said.
However, the team remains strong due to tough practices and encouragement from Coach Jamal Woodson, she said.
Senior Jules Ott stood out with her defense and her many steals, Bernotas said.
With many seniors on the team this year the team spirit is high.
“It’s nice that we are on the road to end on a high note, but we still have work to put in the work to stay successful,” senior Bella Niles said.
Their next game will be at home this Friday against Bethel Park.
