North Carolina has been off to a good start at the beginning of the season, going 11-1 with some big wins against top teams like Kentucky and Kansas.
Leading the Tar Heels is freshman forward Caleb Wilson. He is averaging 19.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.4 assists a game.
Wilson is a powerhouse for the Tar Heels. He brings energy and heart to the team. In their most recent game against Ohio State, he scored 20 points, had 15 rebounds, and secured three blocks, leading his team to the win 71-70.
Wilson isn’t the only body on the team because junior forward Henri Veesaar has been dominating as well. He is averaging 17 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks per game. Veesaar has been a huge asset to the Tar Heels and will be a big help in the long run.
The Tar Heels have been moving the ball well, which has helped them open up the court to get open shots like they want. They also have been doing a really good job with getting the ball down to the post to Wilson or Veesaar for them to work down low.
The thing the Tar Heels struggle with most is their shooting ability. When they are on, they are on, but if they start missing, it goes downhill. There is one guy who has been consistent behind the arc, and it has been Luka Bogavac. He has been shooting 40% from three-point range, and when he starts hitting shots, it gets the Tar Heels moving.
North Carolina’s strong start shows how well the team has been playing together under Coach Hubert Davis. If they continue to follow his game plan and improve their shooting, the Tar Heels could have a great run in March Madness.
